Mr. D.O.G. aka Shon Peterson of Tacoma, Washington is well known throughout his state and region for his “Underwater flow” style of music and his ultimate hustle. His versatility and lyrical ability has been compared to E-40, Mac Mall, and Mr. Short Khop. He comes across like E-40 in the sense that he makes up his own dialect rapping fast and slow throughout his songs. The hardcore street clarity is similar to the cutting edge sound of Short Khop. There is no doubt that it is truly a West Coast/Bay vibe that he brings in his ballads.

Mr. D.O.G. may not be the first rapper from his home town of Tacoma, but he will be remembered as the original pioneer for his city. When the industry was only aware of rap from Washington via Sir Mix-A-Lot, it was his gritty urban stories that educated folks to the more violent parts of the NW. Starting with his debut album WET which featured 3 X Krazy and Cool Nutz , Mr. D.O.G. set himself apart from all the others, creating such heat as “Playa Playa” which was #1 on KKBY’s (104.9fm) Underground show for an entire three months.

His sophomore LP, which features E-40, Ras Kass, Suga-T and many other popular names from both the Bay and the NW expanded his popularity even farther and is described by Eric Moreno of Illtip Magazine as such: “Every track is head bangin’. The lyrics are off the scale and the total package is something to be adored.”
